State of the Industry
In support of its global expansion, Digitas Health commissioned research to evaluate the differences in adoption of social media technologies by surveying more than 1,000 healthcare professionals and consumers in Europe and the U.S. The findings were released at the Think Digital 2010 symposium in London, an event underwritten by Digitas Health.
"While the Internet has been changing the nature of the patient/physician relationship for years, social media is starting to play an interesting role in the delivery of emotional support, especially among those suffering chronic or stigmatizing conditions," said June Dawson, Managing Director of Digitas Health London, in an interview with MM&M. "By enabling people to share experiences and get honest answers to questions about their condition, social media is removing much of the mystery behind medical decisions and is a powerful source in helping to make the industry more democratic and humane for patients."
Philanthropy and Citizenship
Throughout die year, the company demonstrates its commitment to by donating time and money to various causes and charities. Perhaps the most gratifying charitable initiative was Group HUG, which encouraged employees to post about favorite charities on Facebook during the month of December. Agency employees, clients and friends then voted online for their favorites. Each Friday in December the lop-voted charity would receive $2,000 from Digitas Health; over 105,000 votes were recorded.
