The Otter Creek Natural Resources Conservation District (NRCD) in Middlebury, received a $6,428 grant from the Lake Champlain Basin Program to compost nuisance aquatic water chestnut plants harvested from Lake Champlain. The project is a cooperative venture between the Otter Creek NRCD, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation District's Middlebury office, the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and Champlain Valley Compost Company.
